Reduce – Raise – Delay For A Healthy Summer Lawn

If you follow these 3 simple tips now, your yard will be healthier, and withstand the hot dry weather later this summer.

1) Reduce the amount of fertilizer you use. You do not need to reapply fertilizer until September. Applying a high-nitrogen fertilizer will cause grass to grow too fast and make a lawn less tolerant of summer heat

2) Raise the mowing height of the lawnmower to the highest level. The higher mowing height promotes the development of a deeper root system. Deep-rooted plants are better able to withstand drought stress.

3) Delay watering your yard until the heat arrives in mid-June. This helps encourage the grass roots to reach deeper in the soil. Deep roots are vital for a healthy lawn.

These three easy steps will help your lawn endure the hot and dry summer days ahead
